A Syracuse University first-year student from Westchester who died suddenly earlier this week is being remembered for his high energy and engaging personality. John “Jack” Howard Lundin of the Crestwood section of Yonkers, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 14. He was 18. He was born on June 20, 2002, in White Plains. A man with a lengthy rap sheet has been arrested after gaining and attempting to gain unauthorized access to schools in Westchester. On Friday, Feb. 28, a new security guard at the Waverly School in Eastchester allowed a man to enter the building at approximately 2 p.m. after he claimed to be waiting for someone in maintenance, school officials said. An intruder allegedly entered a school on two separate occasions, stealing at least one wallet from a staff member’s office in the latest such incident in Westchester, police said.The Scarsdale Police Department received a report last week that a suspicious man entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary School on Friday, Feb. 21, and Friday, Feb. 28. A former children’s sports coach in Westchester has become the latest accused of sexually abusing a minor decades ago as part of a Child Victims Act case that was filed earlier this month.
