Police Nab Violent Westchester Kidnapper Who Fled, Cops Say
Police in Fairfield County nabbed a violent kidnapper who fled from Westchester County after committing the alleged crime.
The incident took place in Greenwich early Thursday, Sept. 21.
According to Lt. Patrick Smyth, of the Greenwich Police, the department was notified by authorities in Westchester that police pursued a suspected wanted in a kidnapping and assault with a gun in Rye and had crossed state lines into the Town of Greenwich.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Patrick Twomey, age 39, of Lodi, New Jersey, was believed to be armed and dangerous, Smyth said.

A Fairfield County woman who is a lawyer in Westchester has been charged with larceny and issuing $28,000 in bad checks
On Monday, July 24, Greenwich Police arrested Caitlin Moran Hayes, age 43, for allegedly issuing the bad checks, one for $15,000 and another for $13,000 that were returned for insufficient funds after entering into a lease agreement and moving into the residence.
The incident began in April when police responded to 18 Dwight Lane on a report of a landlord-tenant dispute, said Lt. Ted Latiak of the Greenwich Police.

Two men have been arrested for allegedly smashing their car through the front of a Saks Fifth Avenue store and making off with merchandise.
The incident took place in Greenwich around 3:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2 on Greenwich Avenue.

The death of a Connecticut high school hockey player after an on-ice collision has been ruled accidental.
The state's chief medical examiner announced on Monday, Jan. 10 that Teddy Balkind, a 10th-grader at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, who died on Thursday, Jan. 6, during a game died from an "incised wound of the neck," and the incident was officially ruled as accidental.
Balkind, age 16, was killed around 5 p.m., during a junior varsity game at the Brunswick Upper School in Greenwich.

Northern Westchester Woman Busted Stealing $800K From Employer, Police Say
Police in Fairfield County have charged a Northern Westchester woman for allegedly stealing more than $800,000 from her employer while working as a bookkeeper.
Darlene Moonan, age 64, of Bedford was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 12, for an incident that took place in January in Greenwich, authorities said.
Moonan allegedly embezzled $892,557 from her former employers, who are Greenwich residents, during the course of several years, said Greenwich Police Capt. Mark E. Zuccerella.
Moonan, who turned herself in to police, was charged with larceny and identity theft.

A Westchester woman was charged after getting into a dispute at a Fairfield County restaurant.
Sarah Ann Westerman, 30, of Port Chester, was arrested on Saturday, Dec. 12, for an incident that took place in November at a Greenwich Avenue restaurant, said the Greenwich Police.
According to police, a person came to the Greenwich Police Department to report an incident that occurred at the restaurant, which the police would not name.
An investigation found that two people got into a verbal altercation, which turned physical, police said.

Fairfield County police arrested a man following a three-vehicle crash which he allegedly caused.
Paul Fagan, 50, of Port Chester, was arrested on Friday, Nov. 27, by Greenwich Police following the three-vehicle crash on North Street, said the Greenwich Police.
According to officers, when police arrived on the scene and began speaking with Fagan they allegedly could smell alcohol on his breath.

A 31-year-old man who provided police with a fake name was arrested for criminal impersonation and other charges.
Isiah Freeman, of Mount Vernon, was arrested around 4 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31, after being stopped by Greenwich Police for driving a vehicle with a license plate that did not match, Greenwich Police said.
Once stopped, Freeman did not have any identification that could positively identify who he was and allegedly provided officers with a fake name and signed documents using the fictitious name, police said.
