Massive Apartment Building Fire Displaces More Than 100 Residents In Hudson Valley A massive fire in the Hudson Valley destroyed numerous apartments and left almost 100 people displaced. The blaze broke out in Rockland County around 4 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Surrey Carlton Apartments on Slinn Avenue in Spring Valley. According to the American Red Cross, by 5 p.m., Sunday some 63 adults and 83 children had signed up for assistance. The fire, which is believed to have started on the top floor, spread quickly, but no residents were injured, said ABC 7. Sisters On Vacation Killed In Hamptons House Fire Police have released the names of two sisters who were killed during an early-morning house fire on Long Island. The victims, Jillian Wiener, age 21, and Lindsay Wiener, age 19, both of Potomac, Maryland, were killed in the Southampton hamlet of Noyac around 3:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 on Spring Lane. The family was vacationing from Maryland, said Lt. Crews from the Danbury Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the third floor of an “ordinary construction building” on Main Street at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 14. Upon arrival, officials said that crews found the fire in the rear of a four-story building with smoke throughout the building. Gas-Fed Fire Kitchen Fire Displaces Area Family Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a kitchen fire at a two-family residence in Fairfield County. The fire started around 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, at the home located at 9 Cottage Street in Danbury. Fire and police units were immediately dispatched.
