School officials in a Westchester district are on high alert after a post on social media threatening violence was made online. In New Rochelle, Albert Leonard Middle School Principal Camille Edwards-Thomas issued a statement on Tuesday, Nov. 16 regarding a message on social media from a student threatening to carry out an act of violence in the building. Four dozen students and staffers in a Westchester school will enter a two-week quarantine after potentially being exposed to COVID-19 last week. Interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero alerted the community on Saturday, Oct. 31 that a staff member at Albert Leonard Middle School tested positive for the virus after last being in the building on Tuesday, Oct. 27. A Westchester middle school was forced to transition to remove learning after as many as five classes may have been exposed to the virus last week. Interim New Rochelle Schools Superintendent Alex Marrero announced that a staff member at Albert Leonard Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19 and was last in the building on Tuesday, Oct. 27. More schools in Westchester will be shutting down for at least two weeks in an effort to help curb the spread of coronavirus. In New Rochelle - where the outbreak originated - New Rochelle High School, Albert Leonard Middle School and William B. After helping to lead his embattled football team to a state championship, New Rochelle High School assistant varsity coach Raymond Rhett, Jr. has been named the permanent replacement for former longtime coach Lou DiRienzo. School Employee In Westchester Facing Drug Charges
A New Rochelle school district employee has been accused of dealing drugs, according to multiple media reports. Michael Umbro, 55, who serves as a facility manager at the Albert Leonard Middle School, was arrested last month on drug charges after he allegedly was found with heroin during a traffic stop. The arrest was first reported by Talk of the Sound. Umbro has been charged with criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
