Heat Lamp Starts Garage Fire That Kills Five Chickens, Destroys Two Vehicles
An early morning intense garage fire destroyed two vehicles and killed five chickens in the area. The blaze began around 2:50 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, in Arlington in the detached garage of a home at 45 LaGrange Avenue. Arriving firefighters found the three-bay detached garage fully involved in fire with two additional cars parked in the driveway, said Arlington Fire District Chief William Steenbergh. Man Airlifted To Westchester Medical Center After Fire Breaks Out While Working In Garage
A man was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and his wife also suffered burns after a fire broke out in a garage in Stony Point on Saturday morning, Jan. 26. At approximately 9:45 a.m., police received a 911 call from a Charles Court resident reporting a man was on fire. Police responded to find an elderly couple had sustained burns. The man was working on machinery in his detached garage and his wife became aware, called 911 and was burned trying to put out the fire, Stony Point Police said. The garage sustained minor damage. Police Rule Thornwood House Fire As 'Accidental'
This story has been updated. Residents of a house near Four Corners at Marble Avenue and Broadway in Thornwood said police suspected an overnight house fire on Sunday, April 8 as being intentionally set. But Mount Pleasant Lt. Mike Pierce said on Monday, April 9 that the 83 Franklin Ave. fire was ruled accidental, and fortunately no one was hurt. Residents will have to find other lodging, however, Pierce said.
