The company issued the voluntary recall on Friday, March 15 for the chain's Apple Crisp made with Honeycrisp Apples (whole and half pies) and the No Sugar Apple Pie, which may contain undeclared milk and undeclared eggs, respectively.
The two products were both sold in Stew Leonard's bakery department between Monday, Aug. 28, and Friday, March 8, the company said.
Seven locations sold the products, including stores in Connecticut, in Danbury, Norwalk, and Newington; in New York: in Yonkers, East Meadow, and Farmingdale, New York; and New Jersey, in Paramus.
Both recalls were issued after the company realized that products containing milk and eggs were distributed in packaging that did not reveal their presence. Those who have allergies to milk or eggs can have a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the products.
Luckily, no illnesses have been reported. The company is now working with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection to find the cause of the labeling error.
Those who bought the pies are urged to throw them out or bring them back to Stew Leonard's customer service desk for a full refund.
This latest recall follows a similar one that was issued in January after a young woman died after eating a seasonal Florentine cookie with undeclared peanuts in Connecticut.
The company also recalled several chicken products in February as a result of undeclared milk.
