Campers will learn how to make distinctive cheerleading moves, how to dance, jump, tumble, and do stunts as they simultaneously condition and strengthen their bodies using proper technique. The week culminates with a performance, open to friends and family of all participants.

The Cheerleading Camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 5-9. It will be open to boys and girls between the ages of eight and 14. Both experienced cheerleaders and beginners are welcome.

The coach is Alyssa Paesano, a former competitor and finalist at the Cheerleading World Championships and former coach of the North Salem Youth Cheerleading Team. Paesano has been named a “safety certified coach” by the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administration.

Campers must wear athletic attire (shorts and a T-shirt or tank top), short socks and sneakers. Girls must have their hair pulled back and out of their faces. No jewelry will be allowed. Participants must bring their own lunches and lots of water.

The camp will be in the Pequenakonck Elementary School gym at 173 June Road, North Salem. The fee is $130 per participant, payable to the North Salem Recreation Department, 270 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Although the camp is under the auspices of the North Salem Recreation Department, it is open to residents of other towns. For more information, email AlyssaPaesano11@gmail.com or call the Recreation Department at 914-669-5665.
