Three Vie for Two North Salem Board of Ed Seats

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. — When North Salem residents go to the polls on May 15 to vote on the 2012-13 school budget, they will also be asked to fill two vacated seats on the Board of Education.

Judith Schurmacher and Paul Giamundo, both incumbents, are running for re-election. They will be challenged by William Papp. Voters will be asked to choose two of the three candidates. Board members serve a three-year term.

Both Schurmacher and Giamundo have served previous terms on the board. Papp ran for election to the board last year but was defeated.

After the election, the board will hold a reorganization meeting to select officers for the coming year. Officers serve a one-year term.
