North Salem High School Students Earn National Merit Commendations

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Five North Salem High School students have received letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

The letters were presented by Principal Patricia Cyganovich to seniors, Gregory McKeon, Cody Nager, Eric Quinn, Luke Raskopf and Shiv Saxena.

Participants in the National Merit Scholarship Program must take the PSAT/NMSQT no later than 11th grade and must be planning to enroll in full time college right after completing high school. Approximately 1.5 million students take the exam and approximately 50,000 are named as high scorers by the NMSC. Of these, about two-thirds receive letters of commendation. These winners do not compete for the National Merit Scholarship, but do become candidates for special scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.

Congratulations to North Salem’s five seniors, their parents, teachers and school.
