Ethan Bassin was getting ready for the Senior Prom when The Daily North Salem caught up with him.How did he get to be valedictorian? He had the highest GPA in the class. It was 99.9 at the end of his junior year. He is not sure what happened to the other fraction. The high school senior is not sure yet what he will talk about at the June 21 graduation. Some of his ideas include conflict, and hope and making your college -- or wherever you are -- a better place.Ethan intends to make the entire world a better place when he pursues his goal of becoming a bio-medical engineer. He will start his studies at the University of Pennsylvania in the fall.He is grateful to his science teacher, Tom Di Gaetano, who has consistently introduced Ethan to new areas of research. Reading about the field of tissue engineering really sparked Ethans interest, so he may eventually concentrate on that aspect of bio-medicine.When he is not studying, reading or attending classes, Ethan plays varsity hockey and varsity lacrosse.
