Dozens of motorists were ticketed as New York State Police troopers conducted a special distracted driving and speed enforcement detail on I-684 in Bedford.
During the detail on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 18 motorists were cited for speeding, while five others were cited for failure to wear a seatbelt. Three motorists were busted using their cell phones while driving and 15 other tickets were issued for various vehicle and traffic infractions.
In total, 44 tickets were doled out during the detail.
The detail comes off of another detail on I-684 late earlier this month, when troopers issued 71 tickets in Westchester. State police have also conducted special safety details on the Sprain Brook Parkway and I-95 during the fall.
According to police, these details will continue throughout the year as troopers make an effort to curtail dangerous driving and keep highways safe for motorists.
