North Salem Police Investigate Home Robbery

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – North Salem police were called to a home on Bogtown Road on Tuesday to investigate the theft of a computer and other items reported stolen from the residence.

Police said that while the homeowner was away on a trip, someone visiting another family member went to the second floor of the house and removed a laptop computer, an iPhone, and some jewelry. The estimated value of the stolen property, police say, is approximately $5,400. No arrests have been made yet, but the investigation is continuing.

The following incidents were also was reported by North Salem police:

On Aug. 10, police investigated a report of criminal mischief involving damage to a car. The car’s owner told officers that she had driven three friends to a party on Vail Lane. Police said that when she returned to her car, she discovered that her windshield and front hood had been smashed. The matter was turned over to state police.

Police were called to the scene of a one-car accident on Hardscrabble Road on Aug. 11, at 8:45 p.m. Police said the car was traveling east when it ran off the road and hit a tree causing in excess of $1,000 in damage. No serious injuries were reported.
