NORTH SALEM, N.Y. A Brewster resident was arrested at the Croton Falls Shell Station for allegedly having an open container of marijuana in his vehicle, North Salem Police reported.
Officer James DePaoli said the drugs were in plain sight on the center console Friday evening when he approached a person standing at the passenger door and leaning into the car.
Officers Paul Smith and Frank Lynch arrived to offer assistance, along with Trooper Brian Wills from the New York State Police Somers barracks. Wills gave the driver an appearance summons for possession of marijuana. The person standing next to the car was not charged.

The owner of a car parked at Harvest Moon Farm on Hardscrabble Road Sunday alerted police that his car had disappeared. Sgt. Neil Caputo and a New York State Trooper traced the car to the owner of Better Car Sales in Carmel, who said he had repossessed the car because the payments had not been made.
During the North Salem Lions Clubs annual outing at the Salem Golf Club on Monday a man at the 15th hole was struck in the head by a ball. When Officer Ralph Argiento arrived, he found the man conscious and being treated for swelling and a laceration by an EMT from the Croton Falls Fire Department. The man was taken to the Putnam Hospital Center by the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
A rider was thrown from her horse Tuesday morning at the Baxter Preserve. Sgt. Andrew Brown responded, and the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the rider to Danbury Hospital to be treated for a possible broken right ankle.
An hour-and-a-half later a horse was found roaming near the Pequenakonck Elementary School on June Road. The horse was caught by workers from nearby Old Salem Farm and held there for safekeeping until its owner could be located. Meanwhile, Sgt. Andrew Brown found the owner searching for her horse on Baxter Road and told her where it was.
Five drivers were stopped during a radar speed enforcement operation Saturday afternoon on Mills Road. Officer Joseph Olenik gave them warnings for traveling 10 mph above the speed limit.
