Women's Club Tag Sale to Raise Funds for Charities

SOMERS, N.Y. - The Somers Women’s Club will hold its annual tag sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Somers’ Reis Park.

The Somers Women’s Club is dedicated to community service with a dual purpose: while enhancing the lives of others they enhance their own through volunteerism. Membership is open to all women in Somers and any neighboring town without a women’s club of its own. There are several members from North Salem.

The club supports a vast number of charities, including Friends of Karen, A-Home, the Katonah Community Center food collections, the Support Connection in Yorktown Heights, the Autism Speaks walk-a-thon, and the Hudson Valley Blood Drive. They also provide several local scholarships and assorted holiday gifts for needy families.

Items offered in the tag sale include jewelry, books, housewares, electronics and assorted children’s items. There will be vendors as well.

“There are lots of bargains,” said member Rose Jaimes. “It’s great for holiday shopping.”

Bill Fleischhauer, who was staking signs with his wife, Margie, contacted the Daily Somers via video to say, “Thanks for stopping by as we were hanging our signs. A lot of hard work goes into the tag sale and the money it raises helps to make a difference in the lives of a lot of people. Somers is a ‘real home town’ and it’s a pleasure to live here.”
