Breaking News: Trooper Hospitalized After Box Truck Crashes Into Cruiser In Westchester

Woman Thrown From Moving Car in Croton Falls

CROTON FALLS, N.Y. — A woman was thrown from a moving vehicle Tuesday morning on Route 22 in Croton Falls during a heated argument with her husband, State Police reported. Desiree Hanlon told police her husband repeatedly assaulted her while driving and finally pushed her out of the vehicle. He then fled north, she said, with their one-year-old child still in the car.

Ambulance personnel transported the woman to Putnam Hospital Center, where she was treated for a fractured nose and multiple scrapes and bruises. She also told police that her husband had threatened suicide. Subsequent investigation by the New York State Police disclosed that the husband had left the child at the home of a family member and then headed for the Bronx.

State Police contacted the 45th Police Precinct of the New York City Police. City officers took Hanlon into custody without incident and he was transferred to the State Police in Westchester. He was charged with second degree assault, a felony. Additional charges are pending. He was arraigned before Judge Ralph Mackin at North Salem Town Court and committed without bail to Westchester County Jail, pending another court appearance on April 23.

Also from the police blotter:

New York State Police said they discovered 41-year-old Debra A. Doman of Somers slumped behind the wheel of her running car at about 10:30 p.m. on Monday. Doman registered a blood alcohol level of 0.25. She was charged with violating Leandra’s Law and released on $600 cash bail. She is scheduled to appear in Somers Town Court on April 23.

New York State’s Leandra’s Law, in effect since 2009, automatically makes it a felony when a first offense driver with a blood alcohol level of .08 or higher is found to be operating a vehicle with a person 15 years old or younger in the car.
