What to Do With the Kids This Weekend

Pick a Peck of Peppers - All ages

Pull on your garden shoes and bring your market basket. Hilltop Hanover invites you to come and pick your own produce. It is free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Crops may include beets, chard, kale, spinach, parsley, scallions, turnips, lettuce and all kinds of herbs. Flowers, too! Choose your favorites and pay for them at the farm tent.

Have a Howling Good Time - All ages

A litter of new wolf pups has arrived and they’re just waiting to be seen and admired. Visitors take a little walk at dusk to get within sight of the den, so wear good shoes and bring a flashlight. Bring a camera too. Registration is required.

Come Run, Come Walk, or Just Come - All ages

Somers celebrates Independence Day all day long and one of the most challenging events will be the Lynn Adams Memorial Run and Walk. Raise money for the Lynn Adams Foundation while kids spend some excess energy or grownups spend a few hundred calories.

Walk: Primrose Park Entrance, Reis Park, 82 Primrose Street, Lincolndale

The Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department is gearing up for the Fourth of July with a Carnival, complete with rides, games, food and fireworks.

When: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 6 p.m.

Dew Drop Inn - Ages 3 and up

Drop-In Storytime at the Ridgefield Library -- all youngsters are invited to listen to stories, sing some songs and watch a short book-based film.

Now Give Three Cheers...  Ages 10 and up

Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore is one of their most famous comic operettas, and with good reason. The music and lyrics add up to delightful entertainment for youngsters and adults alike. Presented at Caramoor with a full -- and talented -- company.
