Music, Voices and Picnics

Friday 8 p.m. An evening of chamber music performed by the Caramoor Virtuosi, followed by refreshments and solo performances. Tickets: $30 - $40.

Saturday 7:30 p.m. Rossini's masterpiece opera, William Tell, is considered his most difficult to perform and therefore seldom presented. This performance will be "semi-staged" and sung in French with English supertitles. Tickets: $34 - $106.

Note: Pre-Opera events will begin at 3 p.m. and include lectures, discussions and performances by the Caramoor Bel Canto Young Artists. Picnic lunches may be pre-purchased and the Refreshment Stand will open at 2 p.m. Tickets: Free for opera ticket holders.

Sunday 4:30 p.m. The Emerson String Quartet performs the final works of Haydn, Bartok and Schubert in Caramoor's Venetian Theater. Tickets: $16 - $46.

Alternatively, picnic on the Caramoor lawn and enjoy the Emerson Quartet concert from a distance, al fresco. Tickets: $10.

On the Lawn at Lasdon

Friday 12 noon - 2 p.m. Lunch at Lasdon to the pleasant background of live jazz music. (weather permitting) Tickets: $5.

Saturday 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. A summer concert series appropriately named, "Inspired by Nature." Bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners. Light refreshments will be on sale. (weather permitting)Tickets: Adults $17, Seniors $12, Children 12 and under $7

Sunday 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. A Lasdon horticulturist will conduct a walking tour through the gardens, emphasizing low maintenance perennials that still instill a garden with color and texture. No charge.

A post-weekend pleasure: Monday 10 a.m. A workshop devoted to Edible Flowers. Tickets: $15.
