Kelly will be serving as the chief layman overseeing Pope Francis' visit this coming week.
This comes after the 1980 Iona grad was president and CEO of the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee last year.
The Pope's visit will include a day-and-a-half tour of New York City.
The papal mass will take place at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 25 and there are only 20,000 tickets to be distributed.
For the last several weeks, Kelly has been spending seven days a week full time managing this visit, according to the New York Times.
