CROTON FALLS, N.Y. -- The eastbound lane of the Croton Falls Road bridge was reopened to traffic this week.

The lane was closed as part of Westchester County's renovation of the bridge. During that time, traffic was detoured to the eastbound stretch of Route 202 and continuing south, with a right-hand turn onto Route 22.

The county has spent this year overhauling the bridge. Measures have included removing a pedestrian bridge that ran parallel to the main structure and replacing it with a sidewalk on the latter.

Britta Vander Linden, a spokeswoman with County Executive Rob Astorino's office, said rehabilitation work on the bridge will continue in the spring.

In a post on the NorthSalemNYInfo Facebook page, North Salem Supervisor Warren Lucas announced the news, citing an update he was given by the county's DPW. He added that there will be another bridge closure, which could come in April, in order to replace the other lane.

"The work has taken longer than expected due to the problems with the older cement arch," Lucas wrote. "The arch was exposed several months and it was found that more work was necessary to repair it."

The bridge is just outside downtown Croton Falls. It is near the borders with Somers, Carmel and Southeast.
