A Croton Falls woman, 81, was making a right turn out of the Somerstown Shopping Center on Route 202 Sunday at about 2 p.m. when she said a bee began to buzz around her.
Trying to swat the bee away, she was distracted for just long enough to plow into a utility pole. Air bags deployed.
Somers Police and paramedics arrived a few minutes after the crash. The woman said she was "unhurt except for a bruised arm" and saw no need to go to the hospital. A friend arrived to take her home and the car was towed away.
"It happened so fast. I care more about my car than about me. I can't get along without a car," she said. "I've never had an accident before."
