NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A Ridgefield, Conn. man was arrested and charged Wednesday morning with drunk driving by New York State Police.
At about 10 a.m. Seth E. Critchell, 41, was involved in a property damage automobile accident on State Route 116 in North Salem, police said. A drunk driving test revealed that Critchell was intoxicated with Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .24 percent. Critchell was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. He is due to appear in North Salem Town Court on January 30 at 6:30 pm.
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles defines BAC as a measure of the concentration of alcohol in a persons blood. It is the best predictor of the likelihood of crash involvement.
A driver with a BAC of 0.08 is four times more likely to cause a crash as a driver who has not been drinking, while a driver with a BAC of 0.16 is 25 times more likely to do so, according to the state definition.
