Three people were injured in a plane crash on takeoff at Danbury Airport on Sunday morning, Mayor Mark Boughton said.
All three people were taken to Danbury Hospital, Boughton said. There was no word on the extent of their injuries. One report said there were critical injuries.
A HAZMAT crew was requested for an active fuel leak, according to emergency reports. Police and fire crews were on the scene, with emergency crews parked in the Dog Park area and along the fence.
The plane crashed at about 10:30 a.m. Sunday on the hillside above the Dog Park on Miry Brook Road, just west of the airport, which is near the Danbury Fair Mall.
The Dog Park is closed, but the roads are open in the area.
Danbury officials "are waiting for FAA" investigators to arrive at the scene, Boughton said.
