NORTH SALEM, N.Y. At about 11:20 a.m. Saturday North Salem Police were called to a Titicus Road residence about a horse whose hoof was stuck between two rungs in his stall. Police Officer Ralph Argiento suggested calling the Croton Falls Fire Department, but a veterinarian on the scene managed to cut through a rung to free the horse. The vet treated the hoof.
The following events were also reported Saturday by the North Salem Police:
- Just before noon, a suspicious person was reported near Vails Lane. En route, Argiento recognized a young North Salem High School student who fit the description, running along Route 116. When the officer approached him, the boy said, Leave me alone, Im running away, and threatened the officer with a large rock. The teen was restrained and taken to Westchester Medical Center by New York State Police.
- At 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to a Crosby Road dispute. The owner of a house explained that a new tenant could not move his belongings in because the entry was blocked by a car. The car is owned by the womans husband, who does live in the house. The husband explained he had lost his keys two weeks ago and that he received a spare key but it did not work. This was confirmed by his son. It was agreed that the son would go to the dealership for another key.
- On Friday at about 11 a.m. Police Sgt. Andrew Brown responded to a Peach Hill Road resident, who said that a van was blocking the street and she could not get into her driveway. During an ensuing confrontation with the driver, he threatened her, she said. Brown telephoned the vans owner, who said his brother was using the van. In a further conversation, the brother denied blocking the driveway and making threats, explaining that there was a language barrier. Brown concluded that it boiled down to a problem of perception. No further action was taken.
- Later on Friday afternoon Police Officer Carlos Perez responded to a Bogtown Road resident, who reported that a photograph and his U.S. Navy dog tags were missing from his home. The man called his daughter and asked for their return, but she responded, Ask your lawyer for them. Perez discussed the matter with a New York State Trooper, who explained that this is an ongoing civil dispute and suggested that the resident contact his attorney.
