Freddy J. Calderin, 41, of 205 Hardscrabble Road in North Salem, was killed in a motorcycle accident at the approach of midnight on Monday, October 17. The accident occurred near 251 Sickletown Road in West Nyack, in Rockland County.
Investigators at the scene concluded that Calderins motorcycle, a 2007 Kawasaki, had apparently struck a road sign, crashed into a nearby boulder, some branches and shrubs and then finally came to a stop, reported Administration Sergeant Harry Baumann of the Clarkstown Police Department.
Calderins body was found in the middle of the road. He was declared dead at the scene. Sgt. Baumann speculated that Calderin might have lost control and been thrown off when he hit the road sign. No other vehicles seemed to be involved.
Sgt. Baumann also reported that Calderin was wearing a full face helmet. It was a tragic traffic accident, he said.
A Rockland medical examiner will perform an autopsy and toxicology tests.
