Stobin has been hosting Jordan through the Fresh Air Fund for five years. The Fresh Air Fund is a not-for-profit agency that has provided free summer experiences to almost two million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877.

Each summer, more than 4,000 children like Jordan visit volunteer host families in rural, suburban and small town communities like North Salem.

Stobin had wanted to get involved with Fresh Air since she was a kid, but was never able to do it. Five years ago, Stobin, a mother of two, decided to get involved when her daughters, 11-year-old Isabel and 9-year-old Abigail, came home from school with Fresh Air fliers.

Each summer, Stobin sets out to give Jordan a summer to remember though Jordan is at home in the water.

“Every day she asks if we’re going swimming. It doesn’t matter if it is pouring rain, she just loves to swim," Tobin said.

Stobin said Jordan enjoys spending time with her two daughters and that her daughters' friends anxiously await for Jordan's arrival.

Stobin has became a local volunteer leader for The Fresh Air Fund in Westchester and is hoping other families will soon join in the experience.

"I'm optimistic other families will want to open their hearts and homes to a Fresh Air child as well," Stobin said.

According to the Fresh Air fund, more than 65 percent of all Fresh Air children are re-invited to visit the same host families year after year. First-time Fresh Air visitors are six to 12 years old
