North Salem Declares State of Emergency

NORTH SALEM. N.Y. - North Salem has declared a State of Emergency, beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday. A State of Emergency eases legal restrictions on town officials, giving the police and other officials authority to do whatever is necessary if a distressed occasion arises. Many municipalities in Westchester have taken this precaution.

Residents are again advised to stay indoors and not to drive. The town has a limited number of sandbags available for those who need them.

The shelter at the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 14 Daniel Road, is open. The shelter can hold up to 200 people. Further shelter areas will be provided if necessary.

If you need help or information, call 914-669-KING (914-669-5464). In case of emergency, call 911. Click here for additional information from Supervisor Warren Lucas.
