The New York State Police have issued a Labor Day Weekend warning to travelers to double check their routes before undertaking trips, or even while traveling.
The state agency reported that a great many primary and secondary roads in the eastern half of New York State have been seriously debilitated by storm damage and flooding and many bridges and roads are closed.
Travelers are advised to contact their intended destinations for news of local conditions. Up-to-date travel information is also available by dialing 511 or consulting the 511 website.
