Tis More Than Just Green at The Schoolhouse Gallery

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A juried exhibit of photographic art by regional artists is on display at the Schoolhouse Theater and Gallery, in conjunction with the reprise run of Brian Friel’s Dancing at Lughnasa. The exhibit opened September 22, the night of this season’s Lughnasa premiere.

Entitled, 'Tis More Than Just Green: A Photographic Exhibit of Ireland and its People', the show comprises works depicting contemporary Irish life. The artists are: Patrick Cicalo, Ed Dillon, Claire Fishman, Carolyn Gallagher, Linda Hatfield, Richard Halevy, Larry Katzman, Arthur Mantis, Lester McGuire, Marie Grace Mutino, Gisela O’Brien, and Robert Pliskin.

In describing the exhibit, curator/photographer Patrick Cicalo said, “There are very few places in this world where strife and splendor reside side by side, where tears mingle freely with laughter and history walks hand in hand with myth, but of all those places none more closely fits that description than Ireland.”

The Artists Reception will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 1 to 4 p.m. Elmsford’s Fair Haired Tinkers will provide Celtic music and a team from the Kelly-Oster Dance School will perform an Irish step-dancing routine.

The exhibit will run through October. The Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, and evenings during theater performances. Also by appointment. Call 914-277-3461.
