SOMERS, N.Y. - Lasdon Park and Arboretum will offer a special program on Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. entitled, "Invasives in the Hudson Valley: A Local Update on Research and Management." The topics under discussion will be:
"Integrated Vegetation Management: Overview of Principles and Strategies" by Dr. Peter Smallidge, Cornell University Cooperative Extension; "The Effects of Deer Browse on Plant Communities" by Dr. Jay Boulanger, Cornell University Department of Natural Resources; "Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) Update" by Mike Singho, Horticulture Inspector for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Market; "Hemlock Pest and Research Update" during a field tour of research plots on site, conducted by Rick Harper of Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Westchester County.
The seminar is sponsored by the Cornell University Cooperative Extension, in cooperation with Westchester County Parks, the Friends of Lasdon Park and Arboretum, and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
Professionals may earn re-certification credits by taking the seminar. Landscape architects who attend the EAB session will also learn how to certify in EAB Quarantined Areas.

Registration closes on Wednesday, September 21. No walk-ins will be accepted at the seminar. The $35 fee includes the program, educational material and refreshments.
