  • A sweltering heat wave led Con Edison to ask its Westchester and New York City customers to conserve their electricity usage this week.
  • Mark Bernardini, the North Salem counselor who has his office in Bronxville, is maintaining his innocence in a pair of incidents with young patients who claim he touched them illegally, his lawyer said. Bernardini, 57, is presently embroiled in two separate criminal complaints.
  • More than 30 Westchester County residents began competing in the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel, which began Wednesday. Jessica O’Neill-Lyublinsky, of North Salem, competing in open fencing and Michelle Verhave, of Purdys, competed in Masters fencing. The Maccabiah Games, also known as "The Jewish Olympics," take place in Israel every four years. The games are the world’s largest Jewish athletic competition and include more than 30 sports.
