North Salem seaman, Douglas Barrett, passed away on Thursday at the age of 90. Barrett was a Captain in the United States Merchant Marine and continued his career until the age of 75. He also worked as an insurance agent for the State Farm Insurance Company.
Captain Barrett and his wife, Jane, were married for 58 years. She survives him, as do four children: Brian, Brock, Daniel and Nora (Carman), and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah, NY. A funeral service will be held there at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, followed by burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in honor of Captain Barrett to the Alzheimers Foundation, 785 Mamaroneck Road, White Plains 10605.
