Metro-North commuters in Croton Falls have yet another hurdle to jump. As if the long rainy trudge from the roadside parking to the station is not enough, they are now faced with crossing a messy construction site.
Traf?c along Croton Falls Road has been reduced to one lane between Back Street and Route 202. Northbound traf?c along Route 202 is temporarily barred from turning onto Croton Falls Road and must detour right from a point further north.
According to Mike Damore of the DDD Industrial Maintenance Corporation, a separator
system is being installed to divert salty road runoff water from the stream below. The stream feeds the Croton Falls Reservoir.
Ron LeBlanc, construction superintendent on the job, said the ?rst phase of the project, which began Tuesday morning, should be finished by Wednesday evening. The entire job will take several weeks to complete.
Workers do not arrive at the site until 9 a.m. and leave at 3 p.m. in an attempt to alleviate congestion during heavy traf?c hours.
Nonetheless, for the next few weeks, commuters should allow a little more time to deal with the partially closed road, random barriers and difficult walking conditions.
