Congressional Award for North Salem's Cody Nager

NORTH SALEM - North Salem High School student Cody Nager has been honored with a Congressional Award Gold Medal at a special ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The award is given to students who have distinguished themselves by completing 400 hours of community service, 200 hours of personal development and physical activities and a 4-night exploration or expedition project.

Nager did his community service as a Research Assistant at Katonah's John Jay Homestead. For the personal and physical development aspect, he worked with an environmental group monitoring local water quality and ran track and cross-country at the High School. His expedition involved a 5-day camping and climbing trip in the Adirondacks.

New York Representative Nan Hayworth was on hand to present the award to her young constituent.
