Vassar Brothers is part of Health Quest, the Hudson Valley’s largest integrated family of hospitals and health care providers.

There are only 40 electrophysiologists from the United States on this prestigious list.

Varanasi is an expert in the use of the region’s only Stereotaxis Remote Navigation System, which delivers a flexible, robotically delivered catheter to destroy small areas of heart tissue responsible for arrhythmias, irregular heart beats.

Varanasi has been an electrophysiologist at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for more than 12 years and has performed several hundred ablations, including more than 160 procedures on the robotic ablation system.

More than five million people in the United States currently suffer from arrhythmias. They are five to seven times more likely to have a stroke or experience more permanent damage to the heart.

Health Quest's other awarding-winning hospitals are Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck and Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. Health Quest also has 10 primary care Health Quest Medical Practice (HQMP) locations, several HQMP specialty locations and two Health Quest Urgent Care locations for walk-in urgent care.
