Happy 84th Birthday To North Salem's Dick Button

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- U.S. Figure Skating wished figure skating legend and North Salem Resident Dick Button a happy 84th birthday on its Twitter feed Thursday.

Button won the gold medal in men's singles figure skating in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics. He also is a five-time world champion figure skater.

Button has been a television commentator and analyst for figure skating at the Winter Olympics since 1960.

Button is the first skater to successfully land the double-axel and the first to land a triple jump.

He also owns Ice Pond Farm, which is open to the public.
