Advancements in knee surgery allow for a highly customized knee replacement. Using 3D modeling, a knee implant is tailored specifically for each patient. The 3D model results in a better-alignment that is more accurately sized for the patient and surgically installed in less time. A perfectly aligned joint can last 20 to 30 years, eliminating the need for costly and painful supplementary surgeries.
"With this computer model, I get to rotate the model in a way I never could during surgery," said Dr. David Yasgur, Director of Quality and Outcomes, at the Orthopedic and Spine Institute at Northern Westchester Hospital. "With this computer modeling, you get a better alignment, and better installation in less time."
