The event will be held by the AG's Office in addition to the New York State Police, Peekskill Police Department, Westchester District Attorney's Office, and the Peekskill chapter of the NAACP.
The following amounts will be provided for firearms turned in on-site in the form of prepaid gift cards:
- $500 per assault rifle;
- $250 per handgun;
- $75 per rifle or shotgun;
- $25 per non-working, replica, antique, homemade, or 3D-printed gun (those turning in homemade or 3D-printed guns will be paid a total of $25 regardless of how many are turned in).
The firearms must be transported to the site while unloaded and must be placed in the trunk of a car, in a plastic or paper bag, or in a box.
No questions will be asked about the person dropping off the weapons. Those surrendering firearms that must be removed from a permit must present an ID and a pistol, rifle, or shotgun permit.
The firearms will be secured by law enforcement officers on-site. Those who require accommodation to participate in the program should email ADA.administrator@ag.ny.gov.
