What To Do Around North Salem This Weekend

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Here are some events planned in the Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem area this weekend.

Friday, May 31

Rocket Launch: 6 to 9 p.m. Cub Scout Pack 154 of Goldens Bridge will launch rockets into space at the Increase Miller Elementary School, 186 Waccabuc Road, Goldens Bridge.

Saturday, June 1

Naturalist’s Choice Hike: 10 a.m. The “where” is the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, the “who” is one of the in-house naturalists, but the “what” depends upon the weather. Dress accordingly. The Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is on Route 121, just south of Route 35 in Cross River. There is no charge to join the hike.

Pup’s Debut: 11 a.m. Come and meet the five-week-old Ambassador wolf pup, learn something new about wolves and hike out to say hello and howl a bit with Alawa, Zephyr and Atka (if he’s not out being an ambassador elsewhere). The fee is $16 for adults, $13 for children under 12. Pre-registration is required. It’s at South Salem’s Wolf Conservation Center, 7 Buck Run St., South Salem.

Artist’s Reception: 2 to 4 p.m. The outdoor photography of Westchester resident, Michelle Nicolosi, titled “Sanctuary,” represents the artist’s impressions and moods as she traveled through New England. It’s opening Saturday at the WPA Gallery in the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Route 121, just south of Route 35 in Cross River.

Wine Tasting: 6 to 9 p.m. “A Taste of the Vine,” a wine-tasting fundraiser complete with homemade finger foods, and accompanied by the music of local rock/jazz/country band Quadrasaurus, takes place at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 82 Spring St., South Salem. Sunday, June 2

Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Muscoot’s seasonal farmers market is now a weekly event, continuing until the end of October. There will be dozens of vendors selling prepared food and locally grown produce. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, about a mile south of Route 35 in Somers.

Grimaud Concert: 4 p.m. Acclaimed international concert pianist Helene Grimaud, will perform Beethoven’s “Choral Fantasy,” accompanied by the Westchester Oratorio Society. Tickets for this Robert C. McDonald Memorial Concert are $25 and $50. It takes place in the John Jay Middle School Theater, Cross River.
