What To Do Around North Salem This Weekend

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Here are some events planned in the Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem area this weekend.

Friday, April 12

"Alice in Wonderland:" 6 p.m. The Pound Ridge Kids Theater Workshop presents “Alice in Wonderland,” at the Pound Ridge Hiram Halle Library, 271 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge. Tickets are $12 per person.

"Doubt, A Parable:" 8 p.m. It is opening night of "Doubt, A Parable" presented by The Pound Ridge Theatre Company. Click here for more information or to buy tickets. The show takes place at Conant Hall, 257 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge.

Boys & Girls Club of America Sale: 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Browse through a warehouse full of great merchandise at 351 Main St., Mt. Kisco. Click here for more information or contact Barbara Cohen at momsterbj@aol.com.

Trailside Nature Museum: 1 p.m. The Nature Museum at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is offering kids and grownups a chance to meet some of the amphibians that make their homes in Westchester County. Learn about amphibian ecology and morphology and try your skills at some craft work. The event is appropriate for children over age 5. Waterproof boots are recommended. The museum is in the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, near the intersection of Routes 121 and 35 in Cross River.

North Salem Baseball Field Dedication: 1 p.m. The baseball field at the Titicus Road firehouse will be renamed the Jack Baumler and Michael Robson Memorial Field. Extra parking will be available at the Middle/High School parking lot at 230 June Road and shuttle buses will taxi parkers to the firehouse. The Titicus Road station of the Croton Falls Volunteer Fire Department is located just north of June Road in North Salem.

Hammond Museum: 1 to 3 p.m. It’s Opening Day at North Salem’s Hammond Museum and admission is free. The museum is at 28 Deveau Road, North Salem.

Chili Cook-Off: 6 to 9 p.m. The 4th Annual Chili Cook-Off takes place at St. James Episcopal Church at June and Titicus Roads in North Salem.

Music at the Lewisboro Library: 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) As part of its Folk Music Concert series, the library presents An Evening with Greg Klyma, whose music evokes the flavors of Mark Twain, Woody Guthrie and David Sedaris. Tickets for adults are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. Seniors are $12 at the door. Children under 12 are free. The Lewisboro Library is at 15 Main St., South Salem.

Sunday, April 14

Sunday Yoga: 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Local teachers and practitioners will come together for a special day of yoga, meditation and chanting to benefit the International Organization for Adolescents. It takes place at the Pound Ridge Library, 271 Westchester Ave.

Pound Ridge Antiques Market: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Antiques Market and Farmers/Bakers Market returns to Antiques & Tools of Business & Kitchen, the Scotts Corners shop celebrating its 23rd anniversary this month. Vendors will show jewelry, china, books, tableware and more. Farmers will sell seasonal vegetables, breads, eggs, meats, fish and more. There will be a wood-fired barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. and a free raffle of gift certificates. All proceeds will be donated to the Pound Ridge Library. The address is 65 Westchester Ave., Pound Ridge.

Schoolhouse Theater: 7:30 p.m. It’s the Schoolhouse’s 25th Annual Jazz Concert starring Houston Person, musician, composer and legendary performer. Tickets are $30. For reservations call 914-277-8477 or go to the website. The newly renovated Schoolhouse Theater is at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls.
