North Salem’s Ruth Keeler Is Bustling With Summer Activity

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – The staff and volunteers of the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library have planned a full summer for both children and adults. 

Here are some of the special programs on the youngsters’ agenda:

  • Art With Jen (ages 6 and older) Tuesdays, 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. This is a four-part series offered by local artist and teacher Jen Armbruster. Kids will learn to make greeting cards, using minimal and unusual materials. The dates are July 10, 17, 24 and 31. Space is limited and registration is required. Call (914) 669-5161.
  • Math Games and Puzzles (grades 3 to 5) Thursdays, 4 p.m. This is a three-part series with Aysa Takken geared to the young engineers or puzzle solvers in your family. The dates are July 12, 19 and 26. Snacks will be provided. Space is limited and registration in required. Call (914) 669-5161.
  • The Nature of Things (all ages) Aug. 2 at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Debbie Mumford will be on hand to introduce an assortment of her animal critters and talk about their needs and personalities. Space is limited and registration in required. Call (914) 669-5161.
  • Babysitting Techniques (grades 6 to 12) July 14, 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Denise Schirmer will be back to teach her popular course on the skills of caring for children and handling the business aspects of being a babysitter. Participants should bring lunch and beverages, plus a notebook and pencil. Space is limited and registration is required. Call (914) 669-5161.

For adults, the Night Time Arts series with Maggie Zander, offered every Monday at 7 p.m., is open to all levels of prospective artists. Materials are supplied and no registration is necessary. There is no charge.
