Woman Hit By Car In Hudson Valley Critically Injured, Police Say
A 60-year-old woman was critically injured after being hit by a car in Westchester. The crash took place in White Plains around 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28 near the intersection of Bloomingdale Road and Maple Avenue. According to White Plains Police Commissioner David Chong, the woman was transported to Westchester Medical Center with severe injuries. Suspect Nabbed In Fatal Hudson Valley Hit-Run Crash
A Westchester man has been arrested for a fatal hit-and-run crash that left one person dead and another with serious injuries. Carlos Riera-Ortiz, age 41, has been arrested by White Plains Police in connection with the crash that took place on Thursday, Feb. 17. According to police, Riera-Ortiz, of White Plains, faces two felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident including death. Suspect Nabbed For Attack On Asian Grandmother In Hudson Valley
An 83-year-old Asian-American grandmother was spat on and knocked unconscious during a random attack by a man in Westchester, who was later apprehended, police said. Nancy Toh was attacked at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 9 while collecting cans and bottles to recycle outside Nordstrom at the Westchester Mall in White Plains, police said. She was allegedly approached by Glenmore Nehmbhard, who spat on her and punched her in the face. Authorities say Nehmbhard is homeless. A man wearing a baseball hat with a swastika on it at an area diner was escorted out of the establishment by police in Westchester. The incident took place on Friday, Oct. 11, at the City Limits Diner in White Plains, according to the restaurant's owner on Facebook. Man Killed After Jumping From Top Of Area Building
White Plains Police are investigating a possible suicide of a man who jumped from the top of the building that is home to Pizza Uno. The incident took place just before noon on Tuesday, March 12 at 4 Martine St., in White Plains, said White Plains Police Assistant Chief Joseph Castelli. Described as a white male in his late 20s, the man jumped from the top of the tall building which includes apartments and businesses.
