Report: Poughkeepsie Initiatives Dropped Crime Rates 50 Percent In Last Decade Poughkeepsie’s crime rate has dropped by a staggering 50 percent over the last decade, according to a new report. Between 2009 and 2018, crime decreased by 50.9 percent in the city. Similarly, violent crimes dropped by 48.2 percent. These statistics come from a decade-long study conducted by the State Division of Criminal Justice Services.
