DWI Arrests: Deputy Injured After Being Hit By Drunk Driver In Hudson Valley, Sheriff Says Several people face charges after driving drunk in the Hudson Valley, including a woman who struck a sheriff deputy's vehicle, authorities said.  The arrests happened in Putnam County between Friday, April 5, and Sunday, April 7, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday, April 8.  The first incident occurred on Friday, April 5 around 10:45 p.m., when a sheriff's deputy's vehicle was struck by another car that crossed into his lane while traveling north on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley. Driver From Area Escapes Injury After Hitting Utility Pole, Police Say A Hudson Valley man escaped injury after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. The crash took place around 7:20 a.m., Friday, June 4, in Putnam County, on Route 22 in Patterson, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Byron R. Duarte Giron, age 23, of Dover, was driving a 2010 Mazda southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole and overturned, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Route 22 has reopened. No charges will be filed in the case.

Three Cases Of Measles Confirmed In Putnam, More May Have Been Exposed The Putnam County Department of Health has confirmed three positive cases of measles and said others may have been exposed earlier this week. Two are Putnam residents and the third lives in Connecticut, said Susan Hoffner, health educator of the Putnam County Department of Health. The hometowns of the three were not released. All the cases have been isolated to avoid spreading the disease further. Measles is a serious, highly contagious disease that can be spread through the air by coughing or sneezing.
