Gang Shooting In Region Not Targeted At Jewish Community, Police Say Police in the region are stressing that an alleged gang shooting along a busy roadway was not targeting the Jewish community in any way. The incident took place in Sullivan County around 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 22 in Monticello in the area of Forestburgh Road and Hamilton Road. A preliminary investigation shows that a man driving a vehicle on Forestburgh Road stopped, got out of his car, and exchanged gunfire with another person walking along the shoulder of the northbound lane of the roadway, said Lt. New York State Police will be increasing patrols around Jewish centers and synagogues after a mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue on Saturday morning, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced. Eleven people were killed at Tree of Life Congregation in the Squirrel Hill section of Pittsburgh during a baby-naming ceremony. Six were injured, including four police officers.
