New York State has reached a record-setting settlement with broadband and cable provider Altice for the company’s muted response to Tropical Storm Isaias, which left some without service for upwards of two weeks. Gov. Fraudsters don’t take summer vacations. Orange and Rockland Utility issued an alert on Tuesday warning the public of a phony bill payment scheme that has been making the rounds, where scammers pose as company representatives and call customers, demanding immediate payment before service is shut down.
