Woman Found Dead Behind Newburgh Building, Police Say
Police are asking the public for help after a woman was found dead behind a building in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Orange County in Newburgh around 9 a.m., Monday, Aug. 8. According to Newburgh Police, a 55-year-old woman was located dead behind a building in the area of William Street and Carson Avenue. Officers responded and processed the scene. Upon further investigation, the circumstances of her death do not appear to be suspicious in nature, police said. The identity of the female will not be released at this time to respect her family. …

Newburgh Teen Arrested For Shooting Four Area Juveniles, Police Say
A juvenile has been arrested in connection with the shooting of four minors in the Hudson Valley last month. A 17-year-old Orange County teen from Newburgh was arrested on Monday, Dec. 6 for the Wednesday, Nov. 17 shooting near the Newburgh Free Academy school. Newburgh Free Academy Closes After Shooting Injuring Four Teens
Police are investigating after the shootings of several teens caused the closure of an area school. The Newburgh Free Academy in Orange County is closed Thursday, Nov. 18, after the City of Newburgh Police discovered four teens shot in the area on Wednesday, Nov. 17. In a message from the school posted Wednesday, school leaders said the closure is out of an "abundance of caution in response to an incident that occurred in the community". One man was killed and two others injured during shootings that occurred overnight when a fight broke out among a large crowd in a parking lot in the area. While handling the large fight at 128 S. Robinson in the City of Newburgh at around 4 a.m. Saturday, June 8, the police department received a shot spotter notification for 140 S. Clark. Complaints From Residents Lead To 13 Arrests For 'Open-Air' Drug Dealing
After receiving numerous complaints from City of Newburgh residents regarding "open-air " drug dealing, more than 10 people were arrested during a special operation by local law enforcement. In response to the complaints, members of the City of Newburgh Police Department and Orange County District Attorney’s Office Task Force conducted a narcotics operation on Thursday to address the growing problem, officials said.
