A man was critically injured after becoming pinned between a car and a building in the Hudson Valley, firefighters said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Friday, Feb. 2 around 12:30 p.m., when a vehicle that had been put on a mechanical lift suddenly accelerated forward, pinning a man against a building in Carmel, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Horses Rescued After Fire Breaks Out At Hudson Valley Barn
Around a dozen horses had to be rescued from a barn that caught on fire in the Hudson Valley, fire officials announced. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Jan. 10 around 8:20 p.m., when the hay storage area inside a barn at the High Point Equestrian Center at 572 East Branch Rd. in Patterson caught on fire, according to the Putnam Lake Fire Department. A firefighter was injured after they were struck by a car while responding to a vehicle rollover in the Hudson Valley. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, March 15, when firefighters and Carmel Volunteer Ambulance Corps members responded to a vehicle rollover in Carmel on Stoneleigh Avenue near Putnam Hospital, firefighters announced on Saturday, March 18. An area grandfather died after saving his two grandchildren from a fire that destroyed a Hudson Valley home. The body of a man who went missing while swimming in Putnam County has been recovered by police. Kent police said they located the body of the 54-year-old Connecticut man floating in the middle of Lake Carmel around 5:30 a.m., Monday, July 22. Search For Missing Man Causes Closures Of Area Lake
Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police. Hours-Long Emergency Effort Frees Trapped Horse In Area
After four hours of hard work, the Patterson Fire Department managed to save a horse that was stuck in the mud on the banks of the Wonder Lake State Park. The incident unfolded after two horseback riders were riding in the area about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, when one of the horses sank into about 2 feet of mud on the banks of a lake, said the Patterson Fire Department. Head-On Rollover Crash Injures Three In Carmel
A rollover crash in Putnam County left three people hospitalized following a head-on collision in Carmel. First responders were dispatched to Drewville Road at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23, police said. Two were transported to Putnam Hospital, and a third was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center following the crash with non-life-threatening injuries.
