Three Nabbed On Drug, Other Charges During Orange County Probation Sweep Three people were arrested on drug and other charges during a probation sweep by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Probation Department. The sweep took place on Thursday, Oct. 31, when the two offices teamed up to enforce the supervision of probationers through home visits, said Orange County Sheriff's Capt. Paul Arteta. Orange County K-9 German Shepherd Officer Scout Dies At Age 10 The death of K-9 officer Scout was announced Saturday by Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois. "K-9 Scout was a loyal partner and protector to his handler and trainer, Sergeant Dave Campbell," DuBois said.  K-9 Scout was a German Shepherd born on Aug. 8, 2008 and was one of 13 pups in the litter. Scout was selected at 8 weeks old to enter the Police K-9 world. At 18 months of age, Scout placed fourth at the National Explosives Detector Trials in Minnesota. Sex Offenders Allowed To Vote In Upcoming Primary, But 'Only After 7 p.m.' This story has been updated. New Yorkers who plan to vote in next week’s primary elections should be forewarned. For the first time, thousands of registered sex offenders and paroled pedophiles are now allowed to vote at school polling places— but only after 7 p.m., according to state officials. The state primary is on Thursday, Sept. 13 and the general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 6. In May, Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New Castle issued a blanket pardon that gave 24,000 parolees the right to vote. State law generally bars sex offenders from appearing on school grounds — with a few exceptions. …

Orange County Sheriff's Deputy Bernard Mendoza Promoted Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois recently presided over the promotion ceremony of Deputy Bernard Mendoza to Sergeant.  Mendoza has been with the department for more than 12 years and has been a member of Investigations, Bike Patrol, Boat Patrol, ATV, Honor Guard and Field Training.  "Sheriff DuBois and the entire OCSO would like to congratulate Sergeant Mendoza and wish him the best of luck," the department said on Facebook.
