Suspect At Large After Overnight Shooting In Area Injures One An investigation is underway after a person was hospitalized following an overnight shooting in the area. It happened around 2:25 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 in Rockland County in the Village of Nyack in the area of the Riverspace Municipal Parking lot and Artopee Way. Orangetown Police officers patrolling in the area reported that they had heard multiple gunshots fired and responded.  Officers located one victim, a 34-year-old man who sustained two non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, Orangetown Police said. Area Man With Active Warrants Caught In Stolen Vehicle, Police Say A 48-year-old Rockland County man with active warrants was caught overnight inside a parked vehicle that had been stolen in Fairfield County, according to police. An Orangetown Police Officer observed the suspect sitting alone in the rear of a parked vehicle in the Artopee Way municipal lot in the Village of Nyack on Saturday, Nov. 30 at about 3:20 p.m., police said. Driver Asleep Behind Wheel In Nyack Impaired By Drugs, Police Say A man is facing charges after police say he fell asleep behind the wheel in Nyack while impaired by drugs. Orangetown Police say they observed a vehicle on Artopee Way in Nyack on Thursday, April 25 around 1:30 a.m. Officers say the vehicle was stopped with the driver appearing to be asleep behind the wheel. Officers were able to wake up the driver, identified as 35-year-old Chris Yaniga of Creskill, New Jersey, and determined that he was under the influence of drugs, police say. An Orangetown Police officer observed a man identified as 23-year-old Atryue Vielle of Nyack in the area of Artopee Way and S. Franklin Street in the Village of Nyack on Saturday, March 9 around 10:30 a.m. The officer recognized Vielle and knew that he had an active bench warrant for failing to appear in court on previous charges.
