Suicidal Man Holding Onto Walkway Over Hudson Railing Pulled To Safety In a dramatic rescue, a distraught man who had climbed over the Walkway Over the Hudson and was dangling over the water clinging to a railing was pulled to safety by City of Poughkeepsie police, and a firefighter. Details Emerge In Crash That Caused Hours-Long Route 9 Closure The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department released information on Monday on the two-car crash that led to the closure of a stretch of Route 9 in the area of Sharon Drive on Sunday. Preliminary investigation reveals that, at around 5:37 p.m., a 2006 Dodge Durango, operated by a 42-year-old man from the City of Poughkeepsie, traveling northbound on Route 9, struck a center guard rail/median causing the vehicle to overturn and subsequently struck a 2002 Kia Sedona, operated by a 62-year-old female from the City of Poughkeepsie, also traveling north on Route 9.
